TULIP - Yellow Magical Shoes

 juin 2022

50th anniversary of TULIP's debut! The evergreen debut album 'The Magic Yellow Shoes' is reissued on multiple formats, including LP, on the original Express label. Half a century has passed since the band's brilliant debut in 1972 with 'The Magic Yellow Shoes'. A string of hits followed, including 'Journey of the Heart' (1973), 'Silver Ring' and 'Shadow of Youth' (1974), 'Cactus Flower' (1975) and 'When Rainbows and Sneakers' (1979). The band breathed a new style of pop (& rock) into the Japanese music scene, where folk and songs were the norm, and established themselves as pioneers of Japanese-language rock. Countless young people were captivated by this new music, which fused British musical sensibilities and Japanese sentiment at a high level. Half a century later, colourful flowers are still blooming from the great footprints left in the hearts of the tee-agers of the time. This year, on the 50th anniversary of Tulip's debut, the debut album 'Magic Yellow Shoes' was remastered at Abbey Road Studios in London. The cutting was also done at Abbey Road and reissued on yellow-coloured 180g weight LP The TULIP TIMES and large poster that accompanied the original album are also reissued. Also reissued with the first press obi. Debut single 'Magical Yellow Shoes' and the fantastic single EP 'My Little Life' from 1971, a year before their official debut, are reissued. Also included is a live recording from 3 March 1972, when Tulip first took to the stage after moving to Tokyo in 1972, upgraded as much as possible. This is the first time it has been released commercially. Also included is 'Chiihoaaki Mori, Owl Song' from a live performance in Fukuoka in 1970, just before moving to Tokyo. All sound sources were remastered at Abbey Road Studios. A 40-page photo book including unpublished photos and the Tulip pamphlet distributed only to those involved at the time of their debut are also reprinted. The super band that changed the course of Japanese history.
