« What is left of the ecstatic moments of our teenage years? How do they keep haunting us? »
— Joseph Ghosn
Composer, producer, and longtime friend of the brand Pierre Rousseau has created a sonic accompaniment for the
film TWENTY, directed by Grégoire Dyer, in celebration of Études’ 10th anniversary. Building upon their previous
collaboration for the Études N°18 collection, Rousseau’s latest score seamlessly blends with the film’s themes of
unity, freedom, and personal exploration. The film follows young people wandering and seeking each other between
the mountainous landscapes of the Vercors — a region dear to the brand’s founders — and a maze-like city with a
slightly dystopian air. In many ways, the film’s imagery offers a contemporary take on the Romantic period’s painting
style, while Rousseau’s soundtrack provides a dynamic mix of atmospheric and rhythmic electronic tones that exude
a contemporary romanticism.
Rousseau’s score offers an expression of personal feelings in response to the environments portrayed in the film.
The musical journey builds towards a climax that seems to express an evolution towards the indescribable: the
inner summit – a concept that resonates with René Daumal’s unfinished allegorical work Le Mont Analogue. In that
sense, Rousseau’s continuous composition could be the original soundtrack of a personal ascension.
Produced by the iconic French electronic music label Ed Banger Records, the TWENTY original soundtrack includes
a photography booklet by Grégoire Dyer and a text by music critic Joseph Ghosn.
This new release follows Études’ commitment to work with musicians whose approach reflects the brand’s
transdisciplinary vision. From Koudlam to Kindness, through Flavien Berger, Maud Geffray and Lorenzo Senni,
Études collaborates with artists from various horizons to present their collections. These creative encounters lead
to cross-disciplinary projects, at the border between fashion and music.
