Leicester singer-songwriter Causier today unleashes luxurious and atmospheric ‘waste
your time’. The track follows recent single ‘Lightning’, and comes paired with the exciting
announcement of a brand new EP, It’s Deeper Than I Thought, out 21st February 2025 via
Good As Gold Records.

It’s a harsh reality realising that love isn’t always enough, that not all relationships are built to
last. Could it be the right person at the wrong time? Causier explores this exact sentiment in
‘waste your time’, stating that the track “is a song about leaving somebody that you still
love. You realise that there’s things you need to do in your life that come before romance. I
wrote the song after a difficult break up where in the end I wasn’t doing our relationship any
justice despite still caring deeply about my ex.”
Unfortunately, a romantic demise wasn’t the end of Causier’s testing journey. After tracking
demos with his friend Amil, the original recordings on his laptop were stolen after he fell
victim to a house robbery, leaving him right back at square one. “The final version is very
close to the original demo” he thankfully remarks, “which I think is good as the song is about
bad timing and leaving things unfinished.”

The upcoming EP It’s Deeper Than I Thought is a rousing journey of Causier’s
metamorphosis. The singer-songwriter sought to rebuild himself after a prolonged period of
disunion with his identity. Change was mandatory, but he caught himself pondering how
these adjustments would affect other elements of his life. “I’m trying to elaborate on the part
between cause and effect.” He shares, “Relationships, moods, situations are changing and
so am I. What are the triggers and the catalyst, how do I stay in control without resisting?”
“This is a project of rebuilding.” Causier states. The record finely details his own personal
journey of internal renovation, but he hopes that listeners also find catharsis, motivation and
guidance in the songs, take the time to reflect on their own aspirations, rediscover their
voices and reconcile their lives with their dreams, just as he did during the EP’s creation.
“It’s Deeper Than I Thought is my second EP and is the response to my first.” He
continues, “The first EP was a lot about experimentation and retrospective learning from
experiences of my adolescence. This EP is my realisation that everything is in fact, very
deep. The songs are about my coming to terms with this realisation and my desire to explore
further and recognise the ugliness and the beauty that life offers; in its entirety.”
“The title speaks twofold: to my experiences in life and to my journey as an artist. As I go
through adulthood I have begun to see that there isn’t a bottom to this body of water that I
call my life, or at least not one that I can see yet. The deeper you go the darker it gets
underwater and I think the same can be said for making music.”
Leicester-born singer-songwriter Causier combines introspective, confessional lyrics with
electronic infused, alt-pop production. Emerging from the vibrant music scene in Leicester
(alongside the likes of Sainté, bb, RJ and more – all of whom are friends), Causier’s rise
coincides with a huge cultural moment for the small Midlands city.
Inspired by a hugely diverse array of artists, ranging from timeless icons he grew up listening
to like Prince, Jeff Buckley and The Beatles, as well as contemporary artists like Brent
Faiyaz, Noname and Vegyn, Causier’s stamp on the zeitgeist sounds refreshingly
forward-thinking.

In addition to his passion for music, Causier is also deeply connected to football. And so it
was by incredible happenstance that he was spotted via Instagram and cast in a lead role for
a new TV ad for France’s Ligue 1, alongside football legend Thierry Henry. Despite having
no previous acting experience, Causier beat off stiff competition to win the role.
