Showcase: MALU PIERINI (DK_FR / chanson) @ Balades Sonores

Danish-Corsican singer and songwriter Malu Pierini has created her own musical universe, where Nordic soul/pop meets 1960s French chanson.

With a background in both classical and contemporary music and a voice that moves effortlessly between the intimate and the grand, she crafts songs marked by warmth, nostalgia and an understated, theatrical sophistication.

Pierini draws directly on her French roots: her grandfather was a cabaret director in Paris in the 1960s, and her grandmother left Copenhagen as a young dancer with a dancing troupe. Their love story – and the atmosphere of Parisian cabaret stages and Mediterranean summers – runs like a red thread through her music and visual world.

Set for release in January 2026 via Universal Music Group, her debut album ‘Libera Me’ is a deeply personal exploration of this Franco-Corsican heritage and family history, weaving together 60s French aesthetics, bossa nova, Corsican colours and Nordic indie pop into a journey exploring what we carry with us across generations – in love, identity and belonging.

In Denmark, Malu Pierini has already established herself as one of the most interesting new voices on the alternative pop scene. Her singles Souvenir and Just For Us marked a clear artistic shift and received
strong support: Souvenir was named “Hit Tip of the Week” on national radio P4 and “Top Track of the Week” by Soundvenue, and she has been highlighted as “Artist of the Week” in GAFFA.

With more than 3 million streams on Spotify and a string of sold-out headline shows in Copenhagen (VEGA, Empire, Hotel Cecil), her sound has also begun to resonate beyond Denmark, attracting attention from international media such as COLORS (DE), DLSO (IT), ENFNTS Terribles (BE) and Ones To Watch (US).
