SHOWCASE: NOUR SOKHON (Liban – experimental) presents ‘Beirut Birds / « طيور بيروت @ Balades Sonores

BIO:
Nour Sokhon is a Lebanese artist based in Berlin. Her practice explores artistic research
through interviews, field recordings, and site-specific interventions, which she translates into
sound compositions, performance, installation, and moving image works. She received the
Emerging Artist Prize at Sursock Museum in 2019 and the Sound Art 2020 scholarship from
HBK. Her debut album Beirut Birds was released in 2024 with AFAC’s support. She has
performed at international festivals such as Punkt, Gaudeamus, and the Biennale d’Aix, and
exhibited her work at institutions including SAVVY Contemporary, Henie Onstad Kunstsenter,
and Beirut Art Center.

« Beirut Birds « طيور بيروت is a sonic memory capsule that interweaves live improvisations, interviews, field
recordings, and sounds of objects that symbolize migration.
When performed live, it is accompanied by juxtaposed images of the Lebanese capital’s city life and avian migration across the Mediterranean Sea, reflecting themes integral to the music.
