The Diving Kind

I travelled to Senegal last year with some friends and made some recordings with some truly creative musicians, who are now my friends. a mind melting musical experience! and just processing the new sonic experiences every single day made me so tired around 8pm every night. brain tired and emotioally tired. i brought all the music home to my studio and made all kinds of weird creative choices. and out of all this mystical confusion emerged this record. i was watching kids in Senegal jump off an old half sunken boat into the ocean, one after another. i thought, sometimes when you are going down through the air, if you resist it, then it’s defintitly falling. but if you embrace it, it’s diving. so i called this record The Diving Kind.
